Picardie's President, Christina Worms, received her Masters's in Architecture from the University of Florida. While Vice President, Julien Worms, completed ten years with the Compagnons du Devoir, the world-renowned trade school in France.
In 2006, the World Monuments Fund, Preservation Trades Network, the University of Florida, the American College of the Building Arts, and the Compagnons du Devoir teamed with the Shaker Museum and Library to host a field school in order to restore the granary building of the Mount Lebanon Shaker Village. Julien and Christina were individually recruited to join this endeavor where they met and began the first of many collaborations.
After the completion of the field school, Christina went on to work for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History as a preservation specialist managing projects in the Hurricane Relief Grant for Historic Preservation. Additionally, she worked for regional architects as a project lead for the restoration and reconstruction of buildings of national, state, and local significance.
During this time Julien worked for an international company based out of Indonesia where he traveled to exotic locations managing the installation of timber frame structures. From there, he formed relationships and started working directly with clients in the Exumas, Bahamas.
Christina recognized the need and benefit for millwork manufacturing using traditional joinery methods. Julien’s advanced knowledge of wood, woodwork, and joinery combined with Christina’s knowledge of architecture and historical preservation, they started Picardie in 2009 in New Orleans. Since that time, Picardie has grown to more than 25 full-time employees and is housed on a 67,000+ square foot property in New Orleans, LA in the Bywater.
