Kurt Pearson was 'born and bred' in North Carolina. Raised in Rutherford County, he left for Chapel Hill to attend the University of North Carolina where he met his wife, Christina. After they graduated from UNC, they decided to remain in the piedmont area, and they have lived there ever since. For the last twenty or so years, they have resided in Mebane, a “Positively Charming” town that is currently experiencing tremendous growth while trying to hold onto that small-town feel. Being a member of the local Planning Board, he certainly is witnessing the growth demands firsthand. He remains optimistic that Mebane can grow responsibly and keep its charming qualities intact. He continues to herald the need to focus on quality public schools, staying ahead of traffic and infrastructure needs while maintaining balanced housing stock. Kurt went on to receive a Master in Arts degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, obtaining a Geography degree while specializing in Urban Planning. Afterwards, he taught Geography courses at UNC-Greensboro and at Alamance Community College as a visiting instructor. During those years, he worked full-time as a city planner, eventually becoming a Planning Director before deciding to join his wife's appraisal business full time. He has co-owned this appraisal business for over 13 years and they have worked in most areas between High Point and Raleigh.
